When I was a child I used to draw rolling hills and little cottages and this piece has a child-like quality to it with the layers of patterned fields and hills. Using a range of colours with the warmest ones reserved for the foreground gives a sense of depth. The cottage is the focus within the composition and this lone habitation seems to command the whole landscape.
The original for this is a monotype, a unique printed painting. I use rollers and dabbers to spread out the ink then make marks with a cloth and other tools. I incorporate textured materials by impressing inked up wallpaper and fabric.
This giclee reproduction is made to the highest standards on high quality paper. The accuracy of colour to the original is first rate.
