With this landscape, I returned to my earlier theme of seeing the landscape as a patchwork of fields. I can represent different uses of the land with textures and patterns. The strongly coloured foreground has a sense of the recession of plough lines but is really a great excuse for having fun with colour and pattern!

The original for this is a monotype, a unique printed painting. I use rollers and dabbers to spread out the ink then make marks with a cloth and other tools. There are several layers of colour working from light to dark. I use a series of paper stencils to give the crisp edges. You can watch a video about the printing of this image. There were 6 layers of ink in total - 3 sky layers, 2 seedhead layers then the trace monotype drawing.

This giclee reproduction is made to the highest standards on high quality paper. The accuracy of colour to the original is first rate.
