When I created the background for this piece, I had no idea how to complete it. The light pouring through the arched windows seemed a great start. After weeks of pondering, I finally took the plunge and added these imaginative, exotic birds. They take me back to a time in my childhood when I drew a series of birds of paradise. I got so cross with my inability to render them well that I tore them into tiny pieces and threw them in the bin! My mother rescued them and persuaded me they were of value. We carefully sellotaped them back together and I have them to this day!
The original for this print was an acrylic painting with collage. I use a wide variety of techniques to creat the lines and textures. The collage papers are also hand-painted.
This giclee reproduction print is made to the highest standards on high quality paper. The accuracy of colour to the original is first rate.
